Tommies Finish Second at Ken Gould Invitational with Win Over Mounties

The St. Thomas Tommies bested the Mount Allison Mounties 68-62 in their final game of the Ken Gould Invitational Tournament, Sunday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Carissa McTague led the Tommies with a double-double--connecting for 24 points and hauling in 11 rebounds. Jayme Hunt and Sara Banks each chipped in with 11.

The Mounties were paced by Lauren Boyce, who had 16 points, while Kiersten Mangold added 14.

The Tommies fell behind early, but chipped away at the Mounties lead throughout the game. It was the fourth quarter that was the difference maker--the Tommies outscored the Mounties 26-8 in the frame thanks to 14 points from McTague and some strong shooting from the field.

With the win, the Tommies finished second in the Ken Gould Invitational. McTague and Hunt were named tournament all-stars for their dominant performances throughout the weekend.
