Tommies Bested 89-64 by the Mystics

The St. Thomas University Tommies were bested 89-64 by the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in ACAA women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

It was a tough first half for the Tommies. They scored only eight points in the first quarter and 13 in the second, putting them behind 26 after 20 minutes.

Despite the gap on the scoreboard, the Tommies battled in the second half. They matched the Mystics in the third quarter and outscored them by one in the fourth, but weren't able to overcome the deficit.

Kate Gallant sparked the Mystics on 10 for 10 shooting from the field for a game-high 21 points and six rebounds. Marika Williams added 18 points in the win.

The Tommies were led by Jayme Hunt and Carissa McTague, who had 12 points apiece.

The Green and Gold are back in action tomorrow when they host the Crandall University Chargers at 4:00 pm.
