Tommies Roll to 97-22 Win Over Rams

(Fredericton, NB) The St. Thomas University Tommies came out on top in a wild affair against the Dalhousie Agricultural Rams, 97-22, in women's ACAA basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

The Tommies got off to a quick start, leaping to a 26-4 lead to start the first quarter, thanks in part to 50 percent field goal shooting.

The Rams poured some pressure on in the paint with 22 rebounds to claim, but that did not change the 49-9 score at the half.

St. Thomas relied on smooth play in the second half to maintain their lead, turning the ball over just four times in the frame, and with a huge half from their bench, who amassed 45 points on the day.

The Rams were led by point guard Hailey Anderson (Truro, NS), who finished with 11 points on the day. Vanessa Soffee (Fredericton, NB) led the way for the Tommies, shooting for 15 points on the day with three rebounds and two assists.

The Rams take to the paint Sunday afternoon when they clash with the UNBSJ Seawolves in Saint John at 2:00pm, while the Tommies are back in action Sunday afternoon when the Crandall University Chargers visit the Lady Beaverbrook Gym at 2:00pm.
