Fredericton, NB- The St. Thomas University Tommies handed the Crandall University Chargers their fourth loss of the season, an 81-40 defeat, Sunday evening at the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium.

The Tommies were led on offence by Vanessa Soffee and rookie Sam Stordy, who both scored 15 points. The Chargers were paced by Alexa Rancourt, who had 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Emily Briggs, who finished with 10 points and 8 assists.

St. Thomas jumped out to an early lead of 22-10 after the first quarter and parlayed that into a 43-20 lead at halftime, but head coach Fred Connors felt the beginning of the game didn't have the energy he wanted from his team.

"It was a weird game energy wise," said the Tommies head coach of 17 years. "I think we had the intention of doing a lot of good things out there, but I think we were just a little out of sync. I think we got ourselves back on track after the first half though."

The Tommies got 36 of their points off of turnovers and had 41 points from their bench on the night, including Stordy's 15.

"Sam was fantastic today," said Connors of his rookie forward. "It was interesting because her twin was in the crowd tonight, Alicia, and I told her if Sam is going to go for 15 points and 7 rebounds every time you're in the crowd we are going to have to get you to transfer here full time."

With the win the Tommies move to 2-0 on the year, while the Chargers fall to 0-4. Next action for both teams will be on Saturday, November 16^th when both teams travel to Halifax. The Tommies will face the MSVU Mystics at 4:00pm, while the Chargers will face the UKC Blue Devils at 1:00pm.
