Tommies earn first road win over Crandall Chargers

The Tommies Women's Basketball team hit the road for their first official exhibition tilt on Friday, and have returned to Fredericton with a 78-38 win over the Crandall Chargers.

Rookie Celine Sterckel (Moncton, NB) in her return home led the Tommies with 18 points with the 2019 ACAA MVP Vanessa Soffee (Fredericton, NB) chipped in 14 and Emma Connors adding 11 more for the Green & Gold.

Coach Fred Connors, was impressed with the squad's energy and togetherness.  "I felt we moved the ball well and defended with great focus."

It's not always easy to beat a team in their own gym, especially when the Tommies have only practiced at the Pit and played scrimmages at the Currie Center against UNB.  "We made some nice runs on a very scrappy team".

The Tommies will face the Crandall Chargers at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym on Saturday March 27.  No spectators will be permitted, but fans can watch the stream online at 3Sixty.Live with tip-off scheduled at 4pm.
