St. Thomas University Tommies Face Setback Against Mount Allison Mounties

Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies fell to defeat against the Mount Allison University Mounties on Saturday evening at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym by a score of 57-43.

The Mounties flew out of the gates and brushed aside the Tommies in the first quarter, reaching a 16-point lead. Our first quarter has been our Achilles heel all season. It feels like we are getting into these games and playing three really good quarters and one really bad one. We're just going to have to keep working through it."

The Tommies fought back well in the next three quarters and were led by the game's top scorer, Celine Sterckel (Moncton, NB). She finished the match with 16 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Connors was pleased with her performance.

He said, "She's having a really good season for us and there are times when she puts us on her back and tries to get us there, and she had a really good game tonight."

The Tommies next match will be on November 24th when they travel to play the University of New Brunswick Saint John.
