UKC Tops St. Thomas Tommies 68-60 in Final Game of the Semester

Fredericton, NB STU Tommies couldn't keep their winning streak alive as UKC took the win 68-60 at Lady Beaverbrook Gym in the final game of the semester. 

UKC came out swinging, grabbing an early lead in the first quarter at 7-4. STU Tommies rallied back, taking the first quarter 15–13. The second quarter belonged to UKC. The Blue Devils managed to tie the game at 26-26 before halftime, heading into the break with a slim one-point lead.

UKC maintained their lead in the third quarter, and despite a valiant effort from STU, the visitors held on. 

The fourth quarter was a real nail-biter, with both teams pushing hard on offense. STU threw everything into trying to even the score, but in the end, UKC emerged victorious with a final score of 68-60 at Lady Beaverbrook Gym. 

"We've been on a losing streak for the past games, yesterday we proved we can compete, we had a great game today but it came up short," Celine Sterckel said

Jenna Bain led UKC victory with 15 points, 4 steals, and 2 assists for the Tommies Paige Leblanc led the team with 13 points, 1 assist, and 8 rebounds.

"We are going to take a little break; we'll work hard over Christmas, stay healthy, and come back next semester to keep competing in the league" Sterckel commented after the game. 

After Christmas break STU Tommies will be on the road visiting Crandall University on January 12, while UKC will face Mount Allison University January 14.
