In a thrilling conclusion to both the regular season and a celebratory grad game, STU Tommies secured a hard-fought 77-68 victory over the Holland Hurricanes at LB Gym, maintaining their momentum throughout the game.
The Tommies exhibited early prowess, securing a slight edge with a 19-16 lead after the first quarter, which they maintained heading into halftime, holding a 37-32 advantage.
As the action intensified in the third quarter, STU extended their lead to a 62-50 margin. Despite a spirited effort from the Hurricanes, the Tommies ultimately emerged victorious with a final score of 77-68.
Celine Sterckel led the Tommies victory with 19 points, followed by Alyssa Jeffrey and Briana Bartley who contributed with 14 and 12pts. Alexa Rancourt led the Hurricanes with 18pts.
Briana Bartley commented after the game "We played with high energy today, it was back and forth game, but ultimately we kept the lead. I think we are in a good position going into playoffs. We've been playing consistently the last two weeks .
Next game for the teams will be playoffs, which will happen next week starting Friday at PEI(Hosted by Holland College)
