UdeM Opens Season With 1-0 Shutout of Tommies

A late third period goal by Aude Massée (Maëlle Rioux,  ),at13:50lifted   de MonctonAigles Bleues(1-0-0=2pts) to a 1-0 win over last year's champions, the St. Thomas University Tommies (0-1-0=0pt s), in their 2019-2020 Atlantic University Sport women's hockey season opener, Friday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. Both teams did have goal opportunities throughout the game, but Subway Player of the Game, Moncton goaltender Audrée Berthiaume, 24shots to earn her shutout. Moncton took 31 shots on goal against goaltender, Caroline Pietroski, including 12 in the first period. Moncton was 1 for 7 on the power play and the Tommies, 0 for 3. Moncton travels to Halifax on Saturday for an encounter with Saint Mary's University Huskies, at 3p.m. in the second game of their 12th season competing in AUS women's hockey.
