Maritimer Howatt Comes Back East to Join Tommies

Name: Libby Howatt
Hometown: Charlottetown, PE
Position: Defense
Height: 5’4”
Prospective Program: Social Work

Following the recruitment announcements of Claire Nimegeers and Katia Pelowich last week, our women’s hockey team is pleased to announce two more this week, beginning with Charlottetown’s, Libby Howatt

Libby comes to the Tommies as the Captain of Trinity College in Ontario.

She is a defender who likes to initiate the puck moving up ice and join the rush,” said Tommies’ head coach, Peter Murphy. “She has a great ability to get up to speed quickly and we will work with her to have her use this in all parts of her game. Her past leadership experience and time spent on the PEI Under 18 team will contribute to her success at the AUS level.

Being from the East Coast, Howatt is excited to get back to the Maritimes to begin her U Sports hockey career.

"I am an east coach girl, so when I looked into what schools could be both an academic fit and a U Sport hockey fit, I was excited that St. Thomas was at the top of that list,” said Howatt. “When I came for a visit, I felt like I had come home. Everyone was awesome and Coach Murphy had really done his homework on me. I can't wait to get started."
