The St. Thomas University Tommies women’s hockey team has added another piece to their defensive unit moving forward, as Laura Brown will join the 2020-21 recruiting class.

The lengthy defender spent last season with the Central York Panthers of the PWHL, recording 1 goal and 4 assists in 38 games. Tommies head coach, Peter Murphy, is excited with the defensive upside Brown will bring to his team next year.

“Laura will provide some size and grit to our backend group as she is a steady defender that can be relied upon in her coverage but has the ability to initiate a breakout with a solid pass. She is a very coachable player and we look forward to working with her this year and know she will quickly become a key player for our team moving forward.

Much like most athletes who visit the campus and commit, it was the family atmosphere that the Tommies offer that drew Brown to the school.

“I chose St. Thomas because when I visited, I fell in love with the campus and atmosphere. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a tight knit community like St. Thomas’, and I know it will lead me to success in all aspects of life. I cant wait call myself a Tommie.
