The St. Thomas University Tommies women’s hockey team has added to their 2020-21 recruiting class with the addition of forward, Claire Nimegeers

Claire comes to the Tommies from Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Saskatchewan, where she played Midget AAA for the Hounds and was second in team scoring last season.

She is a quick forward with a good hockey IQ that allows her to predict the play and to position well off the puck as well as making a play with it,” said Tommies’ head coach, Peter Murphy. “She is a very hard working player and is sure to be an instant fan favorite.

Coming from a small private school, Nimegeers felt right at home at STU because of the family atmosphere.

I chose St. Thomas because I went to a small private school that felt more like a second family to me,” said Nimegeers. “When I toured and met the team, everyone was so generous and kind that I knew I could find the same support and kindness from my teachers and coaches at this school. Moving so far away from home is a little nerve racking but I know the people and community at St. Thomas will make it an easy transition and I’m excited to be a Tommie.”

Claire joins the ranks of past Notre Dame Hounds at St. Thomas, Dominique Bernier and Kelty Apperson, who both finished their careers as captains.
