Peter Murphy, head coach of the St. Thomas University Tommies women’s hockey team, continues to add to his 2020-21 roster with the signing of Ekaterina “Katia” Pelowich.

Pelowich comes to the Tommies via the PWHL’s Leaside Jr. Wildcats where she was the team captain last year and tied for the team lead in goals.

She provides a lot of speed and a good vision on the ice. She shows the ability to be patient with the puck and pass or shoot as the situation requires,” said Murphy about Pelowich’s game.

Pelowich joins four former Wildcats with the current Tommies, Olivia Reid, Alex Woods, Megan Pardy and Erin Arsenault.

Pelowich said she felt a strong connection to the Tommies when she visited.

“There is something really special about Coach Murphy’s program, not just the athleticbut the strong sense of family and community, that made me feel welcome and at home. The support from the team and the community was felt, even as a visiting prospect. I am really looking forward to studying at St. Thomas and playing the game I love.”

Always interested in improving her game we know Kat has a bright future with the Tommies,” added Murphy.
