Tommies Add Speedy Two-Way Forward Ella Chambers
Name: Ella Chambers
Hometown: Ottawa, ON
Position: Forward
Team: East Ottawa Stars

The Tommies have added another piece to the puzzle, adding Ella Chambers of Ottawa, ON. Chambers, a 5'7" forward for the East Ottawa Stars of the Ontario U22 League, impressed Tommies' head coach Peter Murphy right away with her two-way game and her determination on the ice.

"Tommies Nation is going to love watching Ella," Murphy said. "Ella is a great skating forward that uses her speed to pressure her opponents. Ella impressed me with her two-way game and her desire to make the difference when she is on the ice. She is an offensive threat leading her team in both goals and assists and I see a lot of potential for growth in her game. She will soon be a difference maker for the Tommies as well."

In 38 games played, Chambers leads the Stars in scoring with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points. Chambers has been impressive on the Stars' powerplay opportunities with five goals on the player-advantage and has a shorthanded goal this season as well. She said after a chat with Coach Murphy and a tour of STU's campus and the Grant-Harvey Centre's training facility for the Women's hockey program, she didn't have a single doubt about her choice.

"After touring the campus, hockey facility, meeting the team, and then sitting down one-on-one with Coach Murphy, I knew right away this was the university and team I was going to choose," Chambers said.

Chambers added STU has a home feeling to it and will allow her to strive academically and on the ice.

"Everyone made it feel like a second home right away with also a common goal of a winning program. I think I can succeed academically and athletically with what St. Thomas and Coach Murphy have built.”
