Home Loss for Tommies 1-0 against the Huskies

Fredericton, NB St. Mary's Huskies secured a 1-0 victory against St. Thomas University, handing the Tommies their fourth consecutive loss as Charlotte Buffie's goal proved decisive. 

The opening period saw the Huskies pressing the Tommies at the start, coming close to breaking the deadlock. However, despite efforts from both teams, the first period concluded with a scoreless tie.

The second period brought opportunities for both squads. Trinity Webber of the Tommies had some clear chances to score, but the puck remained elusive. On the other end, Maddy Corbett of the Huskies nearly found the back of the net twice, only to be denied by Katie Sweeney. The Huskies had 13 shots, while the Tommies had 6 in the second period. 

As the third period commenced, the game remained deadlocked. It wasn't until min 6:41 that Charlotte Buffie of the St. Mary's Huskies managed to break through, securing the only goal of the night. This decisive goal not only sealed the win for the Huskies but also handed another home loss to the St. Thomas Tommies, further complicating their season's beginning.

Final score at Grant Harvey Centre in Bell lets Talk Night was 1-0 for the away team, St. Mary's Huskies.

Huskies had 34 shots on goal while the Tommies had 29, shutout for Ridleigh Hansen (St. Mary's), who was awarded three stars, as well as Katie Sweeney (STU).

Tommies next game will be Friday, January 19th, against Moncton, while the Huskies will visit UPEI tomorrow, Sunday, January 14th.
