Fredericton, NB Saint Mary's Huskies secured a 3-1 victory over STU at Grant Harvey Centre, marking a bounce-back win for the Huskies and breaking the Tommies home-winning streak.

Huskies took control early with Miranda Hatt's unassisted goal at 03:11. Near the end of the period, Gillian Lapierre added another goal for the Huskies, establishing a 2-0 lead to close the first period.

The second period saw no goals. Despite the Tommies efforts in the third period, Nadia Lavoie's late goal (Min 18:51), assisted by Jacey Dane, wasn't enough, and Aimee O'Neill seconds later (unassisted) sealed the deal for the Huskies (Min 19:44) in the dying moments of the game.

Claire Nimegeers (STU) acknowledged the loss on Alumni Night, stating, "Definitely a tough loss; we wanted to win on Alumni Night, but we have to keep going; we can't let this loss take us down."

Saint Mary's bounced back from their previous loss against UNB, while the Tommies couldn't maintain their home-winning streak after beating MTA last night. The Huskies maintain their third-place standing while the Tommies drop to 5th place.

Three stars were awarded to Ridleigh Hansen from Saint Mary's and Nadia Lavoie for St. Thomas.

The next games for both teams will be on February 9th, the Huskies face STFX, while the Tommies will host UPEI.
