Megan Kirkpatrick Joins Women's Hockey Program for 2024-25 Season

St. Thomas University Athletics is eager to announce the addition of Megan Kirkpatrick to the women's hockey program.

Hailing from Strathmore, Alberta, Megan brings with her a wealth of talent and a strong commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.

Megan joins the Tommies as a forward, with experience gained from her time with the Calgary Fire U18 AAA program. Her skill, determination, and positive attitude on the ice make her a valuable addition to the women's hockey team. Megan finished the regular season tied for 6th in league scoring with 13 goals and 13 assists in 29 games, including 3 game-winners.

“Megan is a quick offensive forward with a very quick shot.  She can make a play off the boards or find open space to be available as a shooting option.  I was very impressed with her when I scouted her at the Mandi Schwartz tournament.  She is a great character player who I believe will be able to help provide depth of scoring for our program for years to come,” said Head Coach Peter Murphy.

In addition to pursuing her passion for hockey, Megan is dedicated to her education and aspires to become a high school teacher. Her commitment to both her athletic and academic pursuits reflects her drive for success both on and off the ice. "I chose St. Thomas University because of its beautiful campus and town. From the moment I visited, it felt like home," said Megan. "The kindness and warmth of everyone I met, along with the incredible support for the women's hockey team, made it a clear choice for me."

"A significant factor in my decision to choose STU was Peter, the head coach," Megan added. "His welcoming demeanor and genuine care for the team and players were evident from the start. The positive and fun atmosphere within the team is something I'm excited to be a part of."

As Megan joins the Tommies, she brings with her a strong work ethic, commitment, and a positive, fun-loving attitude. Her presence on the team is sure to inspire her teammates and contribute to the overall success of the women's hockey program.

Please join us in welcoming Megan Kirkpatrick to STU Athletics, where she will undoubtedly make a significant impact on and off the ice.

Megan joins previously announced Alexie Palchinski (Cudworth, SK) and Tristyn Endicott (Kerrobert, SK) as part of the 2024–25 recruiting class.
