STU Tommies Excel in Season Opener: A Display of Hockey Excellence

STU Tommies women's hockey team kicked off the season with a resounding 4-1 victory against UPEI! Right from the start, STU stamped their authority, striking first with a goal by Ekaterina Pelowich. UPEI countered with a goal, momentarily equalizing the score. Although the game became tied, it was just a momentary pause in STU's outstanding performance on the ice.

2nd period brought more goals for the Tommies as they showed a magnificent game of hockey. Swift passes, expert stickhandling and precision shots peppered UPEI's net, leaving their goaltender scrambling to keep up. STU demonstrated some stellar offensive plays, which led to numerous scoring chances throughout the game and some fantastic saves by Katie Sweeney. Trinity Webber and Ella Chambers scored the last two goals to finalize the first victory for St Thomas Tommies.

Coach Peter Murphy said: "We did great, created a lot of chances, happy to start the season with a win. We'll get some rest and get ready for tomorrow".

STU Tommies will take some time to recharge tonight and prepare for tomorrow's challenge against a known rival, UNB Reds, which will be played at the Aitken Centre.
