Tommies Win at Home in a Comeback 4-2 Over Mount Allison University

Fredericton, NB—STU Tommies clashed with Mount Allison University in a battle that ended with a 4-2 victory for St. Thomas University. The game remained deadlocked until the last seconds of the 1st period, where Dallis Mackenzie, 19:59, opened the score and struck the first goal of the night for the Mounties, assisted by Hailey Simoneau & Alisha Donovan.

The second period saw the game come alive with a burst of goals. St. Thomas University answered back and tied the game with a goal by Peyton Van Volsen at 6:21, assisted by Amy Dvernichuk and Aislynn Byers.

MTA wasn't content to let the tie stand for long, regaining the lead with a goal from Alisha Donovan at 7:24 (unassisted) and putting the Tommies on the back foot. St Thomas University, refusing to be outdone, tied the game minutes after 9:36 on a PP, with a goal from Claire Nimegeers assisted by Amy Dvernichuk & Amber Daley

Player of the game Nadia Lavoie scored the third goal of the night for STU, assisted by Trinity Webber, helping the Tommies comeback 3-2. "MTA was a hard team to go against, so it was nice to get a win; the win is really good for the team," Lavoie said after the game. 

In the final period, at 9:37, Ekaterina Pelowich unleashed a powerful shot, adding another one in a PP for the Tommies, securing a 4-2 win over MTA. As the final buzzer sounded, STU Tommies celebrated another win at home, acknowledging the effort put forth by MTA.

The three stars were given to Alisha Donovan from MTA, while Nadia Lavoie was awarded from the Tommies. STU Tommies had 44 shots on goal, while the Mounties had 18.

Lavoie commented on the game tomorrow, "UdeM is a big game tomorrow; we need a lot of intensity and play just like we did tonight. Hopefully, we can get the points tomorrow and another win at home". 

St. Thomas University will be facing UdeM on Sunday, November 19, at the Grant Harvey Centre, while MTA will face UPEI on November 24.
