UNB Wins 4-2 in a Thrilling Faceoff Against STU Tommies

In an exhilarating Battle of the Hill, St Thomas Tommies faced off against UNB at Grant Harvey Centre. The match started with a bang as Amy Dvernichuk opened the scoring in the 1st period for the Tommies (Min 12:32), assisted by Aislynn Byers and Jacey Dane. However, a minute later, UNB responded with a power play, and Lauren Carter, assisted by Sydney Oitomen & Mackenzie Keenan, capitalized and tied the game.

Carter emerged as the night star, notching another goal in the second period (Min 08:44), putting UNB in the lead. Moments later, with a minute left in the clock of the 2nd period (Min 19:01), Lillian George widened the gap, making it 3-1 in favor of UNB. The Tommies, led by Natalie Mackay, fought back, with Mackay scoring in the 3rd period (Min 10:13), injecting hope into STU supporters.

"We have to push harder sometimes; they came hard at us; it's early in the season, so it is definitely something we need to improve on. Next game, we need to work hard and be successful", Mackay said.

As the tension escalated, STU attacked desperately, seeking an equalizer. But UNB's defense stood tall, thwarting every attempt. With just three minutes left on the clock, UNB seized the moment. Katelyn Scott struck, finding an empty net and sealing the victory for UNB 4-2.

Natalie Mackay (STU) and Lauren Carter (UNB) earned the titles of player of the game. UNB added its 8th win of the season, while STU lost their 2nd game in a row. STU Tommies will visit Mount Allison University on Saturday, November 8, while UNB will receive UdeM the same day.
