Regina Forward Carys Cross Commits to STU Women’s Hockey
Fredericton, NB — Tommies women’s hockey program is proud to welcome forward Carys Cross from Regina, Saskatchewan as the newest member of the 2025 recruiting class.
A dynamic athlete with a championship pedigree, Cross joins the Tommies from the prestigious Notre Dame Hounds U18 AAA program, where she captured a gold.
“I was recruited to St. Thomas knowing very little about the university or Fredericton,” said Cross. “But from the moment I got there, it felt like home.”
In addition to her accomplishments on the ice, Cross is a standout in track and field. She holds the City of Regina’s senior female record in the quadrathlon, which includes the 100m, 800m, long jump, and shot put.
Head Coach Peter Murphy is confident in the impact Cross will make at both ends of the ice. “Carys is an aggressive forward that plays hard on the boards and looks to win pucks,” She plays a solid 200-foot game and has the versatility to play both wing and centre. Carys has played in two winning programs and is a great competitor. Beyond that, she has shown to be a player of great character and will be a solid addition to our forward group.” said Murphy.
Cross will be enrolling in the Bachelor of Arts program at St. Thomas and is excited to bring her athleticism and winning mindset to the AUS.
“I decided on St. Thomas for its competitive hockey program, friendly atmosphere, and experienced coaching staff,” she said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
Carys also comes from a supportive athletic family and has a twin brother named Davin.
Carys Cross joins previously announced Grace McGunigal (Calgary, Alberta) as part of the 2025–26 recruiting class.
