Former Club: Oshawa Turul U21

The St. Thomas University Tommies women’s soccer team kick off their 2022-23 recruitment class with defender Cierra Meredith.

Cierra, originally from Bowmanville, Ontario, comes to the Tommies with a year of experience playing in the OUA with the Algoma University Thunderbirds under her belt.

Coach Michelle Decourcey is looking forward to having Cierra join the line-up for the upcoming season.

“We are thrilled to have Cierra join the 2022 squad. Having played in Ontario’s Player Development League and for the Oshawa Turul U21 Women’s Team, she brings top-notch experience to the group,” said Decourcey.

Since transferring to STU in January, Cierra has been able to hit the pitch with the team for some off-season training.

“This off-season provided us with a sneak peek of Cierra's skills as a tough (and tough-to-beat) defender and creative central midfielder,” said coach Decourcey. “We can’t wait to see her take on the ACAA.”

Her love for the game wasn’t the only thing that pulled the defender out East.

“I chose STU because when I came to tour the University not only did they have the program I wanted, but everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome from the moment I got here, including the students, staff, Coach, and players,” said Cierra.

Cierra is the first of three recruitment announcements lined up for the Women’s Soccer team’s 2022-23 recruiting class.
