Miramichi's Avery Scott commits to STU Women's Soccer

Miramichi United's Avery Scott is the latest recruit for Coach David Itoafa and the STU Women's Soccer program.

The midfielder who patrolled for the Miramichi Valley Pulamoo during the NBIAA season heads to Fredericton at the end of the summer for training camp excited to pursue her university studies.

"I chose St. Thomas for its small size within a great city," Avery said about staying in New Brunswick.

"The STU alumni I have spoken to have had great things to say about the academic and athletic programs."

The Tommies squeezed into a playoff spot last season and lost to eventual champions MSVU in the ACAA semi-final, and new Coach David Itoafa is retooling his squad looking for well rounded players for his inaugural campaign.

"Avery is a committed athlete with the right attitude to be a great student athlete for the program," Itoafa said.

Coach added "She is passionate about the program and works hard on the pitch, we are excited to have her onboard."

Scott has been impressed with the new staff and current team members so far in the recruiting process.

"The girls and coaching staff were very welcoming. I loved their positive energy and I am excited to take my game to the next level with the push of this team," she said.

Avery is the fifth addition announced for Women's Soccer along with Jessica Weir, Brooklynn Saunders, Katy Davidge and Caitlyn Steeves for the 2023-24 season.

The 2023 ACAA Fall Soccer schedule will be announced in May and Season Passes will be on sale in August, along with Training Camp starting at the end of August.
