 New Recruit Alert

The St. Thomas Tommies Women's Soccer team have added another recruit to their upcoming roster. Caitlyn Steeves of Hampton High School has comitted to the Tommies for the 2023-24 season. Steeves will pursure her Bachelor of Arts degree before a Bachelor of Education.

Steeves, who has been playing soccer for 12 years and is also a multi-sport athelte who has thrived in hockey, badminton, cross-country and track & field, has had a lot of success on and off the pitch. She'll join the Tommies as a midfielder or forward, bringing an excellent attacking presence to their young core. She hopes to study economics during her undergrad.

"I chose STU because I liked the campus and the small student to faculty ratio," Steeves said. "I am looking forward to playing soccer for the Tommies."

On the pitch, Steeves and and Team New Brunswick placed sixth in the past Canada Games in Niagara Falls, ON, the highest Team NB has ever placed in the event. She also earned two Provincial silver medals this past season - one with the Hampton High Huskies and another with her Fundy U17 AAA club team.

Off the pitch, Steeves is very involved in her community. Not only does she coach youth soccer, she organized a 4-week program called "Learn to Try," allowing kids to try different sports each week.

David Itoafa, who will begin his first season as the Tommies' head coach in the 2023-24 season, said the program will be forrtunate to have Steeves a part of his group.

"She has an excellent attacking presence with a sharp eye for the net. She is a very hardworking player that leaves it all on the pitch," Itoafa said. "From speaking to both provincial and club coaches they have had nothing, but positive things to say. We are very fortunate to have her."

Steeves said she'll bring her work ethic to the program, doing whatever she can to improve.

"I would describe myself as a hardworking and resilient player who is always looking to do her best and improve."

Steeves follows the announcement of Katy Davidge for the 2023-24 season.

The 2023 ACAA Fall Soccer schedule will be announced in May and Season Passes will be on sale in August, along with Training Camp starting at the end of August.
