Tommies Add First Recruit of 2023-24

The St. Thomas Tommies have added their first recruit to the 2023-24 team. Katy Davidge, a striker from Fredericton, has committed to the Green & Gold for next season. Davidge, a hometown star, played for the Fredericton High School Black Kats.

Michelle DeCourcey, who has been helping with the Tommies' Women's program recruitment process since stepping down from the head coach role, said Davidge brings speed to the Tommies, as well as determination.

"Katy is a speedy and determined winger with a fierce attacking drive," DeCourcey said.

Davidge, who has been playing soccer for about 14 years now, has come up in through the FDSA's premiership program and the competitive University prep program. She had also been put training with DeCourcey and the Tommies for the past couple years. DeCourcey said she'll be a great fit with STU.

Davidge said she choose STU for their criminology program, as well as the small campus environment. Being from Fredericton, she had gotten a chance to know the Tommies quite well.

"Having played here in Fredericton I have had the opportunity to play with and against the Tommies over the last few years," she said. "They have been so welcoming, friendly but also ambitious with a love of playing."

Davidge's older brother, Ben Davidge, has also played for the Tommies and was apart of the Men's soccer 2021-22 ACAA Championship team. She describes her self as a hard working student-athlete who never gives up.

"I work hard on and off the field," she said. "I never give up, I love 1v1, and I am tenacious."
