New Coach David Itoafa signs PEI's Lindsey Smith for upcoming ACAA career.

The winger/striker versatile player heads to St. Thomas to begin her post-secondary playing career in late August with the intention of pursuing her studies in Criminology and Psychology.

She chose St. Thomas University because Smith mentions "it was a University that fit my academic needs. I am very excited to be taking Criminology."

After graduating from Bluefield High School in June, she will enjoy the tight knit atmosphere that STU offers. "I am impressed with the small class sizes," she added.

On the pitch, Lindsey will bring experience she gained at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara in 2022. There will be lots of work for the program that qualified for the 2022 ACAA Playoffs in 4th place in league standings.  There is a bright future ahead for the squad.

"The team had a good showing last year and with the new coaching staff I am confident we are going to have a great season," Lindsey said.  "I am very excited to be joining the STU Women's Soccer Program."

Coach David Itoafa continues to shape the team to his style of play in a new era after the departure of previous coach Michelle DeCourcey.  With numerous new additions and returning veterans, he will bring a changed identity and Smith will help with her provincial team experience.

"We are thrilled to have a former PEI Canada Games player joining us in the fall from a strong soccer club on the Island," Coach Itoafa said.  "Lindsey is a fast and dynamic player that reads the game well and scores goals. We are excited to see her grow with the program"

Lindsey is the seventh addition announced for Women's Soccer along with Delaney Hancock, Avery Scott, Jessica Weir, Brooklynn Saunders, Katy Davidge and Caitlyn Steeves for the 2023-24 season.

The 2023 ACAA Fall Soccer schedule will be announced in June and Season Passes will be on sale in August, along with Training Camp starting at the end of August.
