Ava Slipp Commits to STU Tommies for 2024-25 Season
David Itoafa adds his first recruit for the 2024–25 soccer season. Ava Slipp, a center-back from Fredericton, NB, will join the women's soccer program next year.

"I love everything about the program. It consists of amazing people and coaches who care about their positions on the team.

Slipp, who has played for FHS and FDSA (Fredericton High School and Fredericton District Soccer Association), is excited to join the program as she feels the team has a great environment. "I felt it would be a perfect fit for me," Slipp said.

Slipp chose St. Thomas University because she thinks it is the perfect combination for her to strive both in athletics and academics. Slipp will be pursuing architecture and design in the future; therefore, she feels the STU liberal arts program is the perfect place to start and to prepare her in an academic way.

"I’ve always wanted to play university soccer, and when I was offered a position on the team, I instantly knew I wanted to be part of the program."

Slipp has fallen in love with the St. Thomas community, and she feels STU has been incredibly welcoming.

David is thrilled to have Ava join the team in the fall. "A strong and athletic defender that works hard off the ball. On the field Ava defends with passion and intensity. She has been a standout local player for her high school and club".

Slipp has a strong passion for sports in general; she has played volleyball, ringette, and badminton in the past.

"I feel it is key to be on a team where you feel comfortable and welcomed while still being able to compete intensely, and this program gives exactly that. This is an immensely successful program that consists of lots of hard work and passion, which I really appreciate. All I’ve felt from STU is positive vibes, and I think it’s an amazing program that I am excited to be a part of.
