Izzy Sharpe Commits to STU Tommies for 2024-25 Season

Fredericton, NB – David Itoafa is thrilled to announce the addition of Izzy Sharpe, a standout goalkeeper from Fredericton, NB, to the women's soccer program for the 2024–25 season.

"One of the top goalkeepers for her age group in the province that will have an immediate impact on and off the field! We are excited to sign another local player to our 2024 class and are thrilled to work with her for the next couple of years" said Itoafa

Sharpe's soccer journey includes playing for Fredericton High School and the Fredericton District Soccer Association (FDSA). Her commitment to excellence on and off the field aligns seamlessly with the values of the STU Women's Soccer Program.

Commenting on her decision to join St. Thomas University, Sharpe shared, "I think the STU Women’s Program is great and will continue to grow and keep getting better. The supportiveness of the coaches and the awesome team environment made me feel so welcome, which is a huge factor in why I decided to commit to the team."

Beyond her athletic pursuits, Sharpe is academically inclined, expressing interest in social sciences and sciences like chemistry and biology. With aspirations to become a physician, Sharpe highlighted the psychology program at St. Thomas as an ideal starting point for her university academics.

"I chose St. Thomas because I thought the athletics as well as the academics would be a great fit for me. The smaller class sizes and tight-knit community feel also really drew me toward the school," commented Sharpe on her decision.

In addition to her dedication to soccer and academics, Sharpe values a holistic lifestyle. Apart from playing soccer year-round and managing schoolwork, she finds time to spend with friends and family. Sharpe enjoys various forms of exercise, such as going for runs or walks, and considers reading one of her hobbies.

"I'm super excited to be part of and play with this team, and I can't wait to see what we can achieve together," expressed Sharpe about joining the St. Thomas University women's soccer program.
