Blue Devils Open the Season With a 3-1 Victory Over Tommies

The St. Thomas University Tommies women's volleyball team held their season home opener against the University of Kings College (UKC) Blue Devils on Saturday.

In their battle to win the first game on home turf, the Tommies fell short against UKC, 3-1.

Alex Jackson and Sophia Josenhans of UKC pushed the Tommies' boundaries with considerable power offensively, and effective court coverage and digs.

The Tommies struggled with service errors, but Hannah Millier (Fredericton, NB) and Krysteena Clements (Weymouth, NS) were strong assets at the net with blocks and kills.

"Some moments of the game were strong, but ultimately we had too many unforced errors... we're certainly a long way from finished and tomorrow's another day," said Head Coach Don McKay.

The Tommies are back at it Sunday at the LB Gym when they host the MSVU Mystics at noon. The Blue Devils will head to Saint John for a date with the Seawolves, at noon.
