The St. Thomas University Tommies women's volleyball team faced the Holland Hurricanes in double-header action at the LB Gym this Saturday. The Tommies took the match in three straight sets, with match scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-21.
The STU women were led by #4 Megan Mills (Fredericton, NB) who had a total of 11 kills and 1 service ace, and libero #15 Jenicca Jean (Nackawic, NB)) who received 14 digs.
"We knew coming into this game what they (Holland Hurricanes) were capable of and that we needed to play hard. We had a lot of great plays from our returning players, and some great kills by our rookie Jolie Allain (#17)," said head coach Don McKay.
The Hurricanes replied to the Tommies' power and were led by #3 Philicia Johnson, and #13 Zayley Murphy who had a combined 15 kills.
The two teams will meet again Sunday, November 25 at LB Gym as the Tommies will look to make it two wins in a row.
