Madison Ball transfers to STU to play Volleyball

Tommies tap Truro track & field athlete to join 2021-22 squad

Madison Ball, a 5'7 UNB long jumper, is transferring to St Thomas University to Major in Criminology and Minor in French in anticipation of joining the RCMP.

“I am excited to take more courses hone in on my career path in Criminology & Criminal Justice. There are few Universities who offered these subjects." Ball is also looking forward to STU's smaller classes sizes as "it makes for a much more comfortable learning environment."

Joining the Tommies volleyball team, she'll connect with her best friend Maddie MacGregor.  Both are graduates of the highly touted Cobequid Educational Centre program in Truro, Nova Scotia.

A solid athlete, Madison received an All-Star award at the Dalhousie University High School Tournament, at the 2019 Nova Scotia 18U Volleyball Provincial Championships and Most Improved Distinction at her high school.

Her high school coach Hilary Cormier told Coach McKay that Maddie is “very athletic and can hit the ball with power. She will work her butt off to dig the ball. She is fit and very quick." A good word to describe her pursuit of the volleyball is tenacious."

Cormier considers Maddie a special talent.

Coach McKay thinks the fit is right for the Tommies. “With both of our Liberos leaving, possibly 1 or 2 coming in and I love players who love defence and can play more than 1 position. Ball will give us that extra insurance as you never know between now and September."

Madison Ball is the 5th recruit for the Green & Gold heading to campus in September along with Sydney Doyle, Megan Bowen, Julia Campbell and Chloe Little.
