Three Tommies Named to ACAA All-Conference Teams
The St. Thomas Tommies have capped off a successful regular season with a trio of new All-Stars. Abby Lanteigne (Fredericton, NB) and Kathleen Boyle (Fredericton, NB) have been named to the ACAA All-Conference team while setter Julia Campbell (Sussex, NB) has been named to the ACAA All-Conference Second team.
Lanteigne quietly had an outstanding year, putting up some of the best numbers in the ACAA while en route to leading the Tommies to a tie for the best record at 14-4. In 18 games, she put up 2.46 kills per set, ranking eighth in the league. Her 0.246 hitting percentage placed her fourth while her 3.02 digs per set had her third. Finally, her 3 points per set also had her in the top-10.
Along with her All-Conference selection, Lanteigne and Marcy McNeil of the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics were named CCAA All-Canadians. Lanteigne ended her winnings with the ACAA Player of the Year honours.
Boyle came into the ACAA looking like she had been in the league for a couple of seasons already - finishing her first career regular season game with 16 kills against the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves. She'd pass that number in Moncton against the Chargers when she hit 17 kills in a five-set win. Finishing the year with the second highest kills per set at 3.2 and fourth in digs per set with 2.72, Boyle was a key piece to the Tommies' 14-4 record.
Leading the ACAA in assists per set with 7.25, Campbell's second season was a success. She'd finish with 442 assists, second most in the ACAA and drastically higher than her rookie season where she had 66. Her season high was 34 in a four-set win over the Seawolves.
