Tommies Triumph in Thrilling 5th Set against Holland

Fredericton, NB - STU Tommies clinched a win 3-2 against the Hurricanes. The match started with an early advantage for the Hurricanes, but it was not for long as the Tommies came back from a 12-10 to win the first set 25-22. Tommies kept their momentum going, securing the second set 25-18.

The Hurricanes did not back down and went to play a very well 3rd set, taking away the momentum from the Tommies. Hurricanes won the third set 25-20 and set the tone for a fourth set. Tommies tried to regain the lead by having the advantage in the first minutes of the fourth set, but Hurricanes kept going to secure the win 25-21 and tie the game 2-2. Holland pushed the match to a fifth set but couldn't capitalize, as STU Tommies took the win at home 15-11 (3-2).

"The first two sets we played really good, we had great communication; the third and fourth sets were close sets; we had a few rough patches, but we ended up bringing back the communication to win in the fifth set," Brooke Thompson said.

Notable performances in the game included STU Tommies Kathleen Boyle with 24 kills and Madison Ball with 10 kills. For the Hurricanes, Jenna O'Neill led the team with 16 kills, while Morgan White contributed with 11 kills.

STU Tommies will face USTA at LB Gym on November 26; meanwhile, Holland College will take on Mount Allison on Saturday, December 2nd.
