Mounties Comeback to Win in Five Sets Against STU

Fredericton, NB, Mounties showed determination as they came back from a 1-2, securing the win against the Tommies in a five-set match at LB Gym. 

STU came out strong, taking an early 5-1 lead over the Mounties. Jill Stanger's debut at home for the Tommies added an extra layer of excitement. The first set was tight, with STU managing to secure it in a 25-23 tiebreaker.

The second set saw STU initially take the lead, but MTA staged a comeback, seizing the set with a close 25-23 score. The Tommies, undeterred, fought back in the third set, winning 25-22 and taking a 2-1 lead in the match.

In the fourth set, the Mounties clawed back, claiming a narrow 26-24 win and tying the game at 2-2. The teams headed into a decisive fifth set, setting the stage for a nail-biting finale.

Mount Allison emerged triumphant in the fifth set, 11-15, securing the win 3-2 at LB Gym. The final score reflected the intensity of the game, with the Mounties emerging as the victors.

Jill Stanger, making her debut at home with the Tommies, expressed her satisfaction, stating, "I think it went really well; the game was very close; we were really strong on defense; we worked really hard throughout the game. I am happy I was able to contribute to the team and look forward to more games with the Tommies."

The next games for both teams will be tomorrow, Sunday, January 21st. The Tommies will host UNBSJ, while the Mounties will play at home against DAL AC.
