Women’s Volleyball Welcomes First Recruit for 2025-26 Ella Estey
Fredericton, NB – St. Thomas University is thrilled to welcome Ella Estey, the first women's volleyball recruit for the 2025–26 season. Ella is a talented setter from Fredericton, New Brunswick. A graduate of École Sainte-Anne and a dedicated member of the Reds Volleyball Club, Ella brings a strong drive to succeed on and off the court.
“I am a competitive player who loves to win. I’m excited to learn to play with my new teammates and bring intensity to every game. Being part of such a tight-knit team will push me to work hard and contribute as much as possible.”
Ella’s academic ambitions align perfectly with STU’s offerings. She plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. “I like the environment of STU as a smaller university with its smaller class sizes, which help me learn better and transition smoothly from high school. It’s also very convenient, as I live just two minutes away from campus.”
Having grown up in Fredericton, Ella has always admired the Tommies program: “Having watched the Tommies my whole life has given me a deep appreciation for their program. I’ve had the opportunity to be coached by Kim Colpitts through VNB, and I’m so excited to learn from her and my new teammates.”
Ella’s volleyball journey began at the age of three in the Reds Volleyball Club’s grassroots program, where she has grown and competed for 15 years.
Head Coach Kim Colpitts expressed her excitement about Ella joining the program: “It’s always special to add a local standout athlete like Ella to our roster. Ella is a dynamic and versatile athlete with the ability to play key roles for us as both a setter and attacker. Her passion, intensity, and drive will be a great addition to our team, and I look forward to watching her thrive at STU.”
"Ella is part of an exciting class of recruits for the program. I'm excited to coach our current and future generations of Tommies," said Kim Colpitts. "Our next wave of recruits brings athletes who are passionate and excited to continue the momentum of the program. Our 2025-26 recruiting class has a lot of diverse skill and experience to add to both the court and the culture of our team. We are very honored to welcome them to our STU community."
