Tommies Weekend Recap- Dec. 6
Action for St. Thomas University (STU) Athletics has come to an end for the first semester. Two teams were in action last weekend, both of which took place in front of the STU faithful. Both of the Tommies squads suited up for the last time in the first half. They will return in the new year, along with the other seven STU teams.
Basketball Tommies sweep final games of the semester
STU’s Men’s and Women's Basketball teams were on home court last weekend. The squads welcomed the UNB Saint John Seawolves for a pair of afternoon matches. Both teams found themselves on the victorious end of the scoreboard. Last weekend also marked the teams’ final game of the first half of the season.
STU’s Women’s Basketball team stole the show last weekend. The team dominated UNB Saint John from start to finish. STU led after the first quarter by a score of 24-6, and showed no signs of slowing down. The team took a 23-point lead into halftime. Your Tommies carried their momentum over the next two quarters. STU defeated the Seawolves 75-32. Katie Vidito led the charge with a team-high 16 points. She also grabbed five rebounds.
The Men’s Basketball team had a much closer game. STU defeated the Seawolves 87-77. Your Tommies went down in the early part of the first quarter. However, the squad took over midway through the frame and did not look back. The team led by 17 points after the first half. STU did not break their advantage, holding serve until the very end. Jeven Eddy was an impact player for the Tommies. He finished with 16 points and two steals.
What’s on tap for Next Weekend
